A small store in California’s Central Valley sold Mega Millions tickets worth more than $1.2 million, the California Lottery announced Wednesday.
A ticket purchased at Lake Liquor in Woodlake matched five numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing and won $1,214,818. The winning numbers were 2, 24, 25, 52, 58, and 9.
The Tulare County store will receive more than $6,000 in bonuses for selling lucky tickets, officials said.
No one won the estimated $334 million Mega Millions jackpot in Friday’s drawing, but more than 114,000 tickets won prizes in nine stages in California.
Mega Millions tickets cost $2, and approximately 80 cents of each ticket sold in California is donated to public education. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are approximately 1 in 302.6 million.
According to USA Mega, which tracks Mega Millions stats, the most common Mega Millions numbers are 10, 3, 17, 14, and 46, and the most common Mega Ball number is 11.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states and the District of Columbia, with drawings taking place every Tuesday and Friday at 8 p.m.
In September, $2 million Mega Millions tickets went on sale at the ARCO station in Cathedral City, Riverside County. A Powerball ticket sold at the Lake Elsinore Chevron Station late last month matched all five numbers but didn’t hit the Powerball, narrowly missing out on the $437 million jackpot. Still, the ticket holder walked away with a $250,000 prize.
