LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – One person was killed and seven others were injured in a head-on crash in South Los Angeles early on Christmas Day.
The crash happened just before 2 a.m. on West 53rd Street at Broadway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Video from the scene shows a dark-colored SUV colliding with a small sedan, causing the SUV to end up on its side in front of an apartment building. Both vehicles were severely damaged.
“One patient required evacuation. One patient was beyond medical assistance and was pronounced dead at the scene,” LAFD said.

Fire officials said three of the eight patients were taken to local hospitals, with one in critical condition and two in mild condition. Five people refused transportation.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
