Two women died and died Saturday, and a baby was seriously injured on Saturday after crashing into two cars on the 60 highway in Baldwin Park, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Just after 11pm, CHP was notified to the wrong road driver in the westbound lane of the 60 Expressway near the 71 Expressway. Just a few minutes later, the agency was warned of a crash in the westbound lane of the 60 highway near Reservoir Street.
Investigations reveal that Rick Rodriguez, 24, of Pomona, was moving east in the westbound lanes of the highway when he crashed head-on on the 2018 Honda Civic. This impact caused Rodriguez to crash into his second vehicle, the 2019 Toyota Highlander.
Honda and her passenger driver died at the scene as a result of the crash. Both are Huntington Park resident and the driver was identified as a 29-year-old woman. The passenger was identified as a 39-year-old passenger. Their names have not been made public.
I was traveling to Honda for a year. The infant suffered severe injuries and was taken to Children’s Hospital in Orange County.
The Toyota driver was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital where he was treated for a major wound. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
