Authorities have found 104 pounds of cocaine being smuggled through the Riverside County immigration checkpoint.
On June 4, US Border Patrol agents stopped a silver SUV at Temecula’s I-15 North Immigration Checkpoint. While interviewing the driver, the K-9 warned authorities of the possible presence of drugs.
After searching for the SUV, the agent found “40 suspicious bundles hidden inside the roof of an aftermarket electric compartment.”
US Border Patrol agents discovered 104 pounds of cocaine on June 4, 2025, inside the roof of an SUV with an aftermarket electric roof compartment in Temecula.
The bundle was removed and found to contain cocaine. The package weighed 104 pounds in total. Authorities estimated the street value at $708,000.
Drivers identified solely as US citizens were detained by Homeland Security.
The suit was referred to the US Lawyer’s Office for federal complaint of possession with intent to possess and distribute a controlled substance.
“Drug smugglers are often resourceful, but our dedicated agents always watch,” said Jeffrey D. Starnaker, San Diego acting chief patrol agent. “Our agents are the best and remain determined in their mission to keep our community safe.”
