11th week in the office where Trump tries to focus on tariffs as President promotes “Liberation Day”

President Donald Trump’s 11th week in office will focus on tariffs, including the unfolding of the president’s promised “liberation day.”

“Liberation Day, I call it America’s Liberation Day,” Trump said in a preview from the White House last week on April 2nd. “You’ll see the tariffs, and I think it was very fair.

For a few weeks, April 2nd, Trump’s trade policy has been promoted, emphasizing that “America First” will be laid out in earnest and ends its dependence on US products made overseas. He is expected to roll out mutual tariff plans on Wednesday. This coincides with higher tariff rates in other countries and aims to negotiate with some countries to counter and reduce other trade barriers such as burdensome regulations, value-added taxes, government subsidies, and exchange rate policies.

“For decades, we have been fooled and abused by all countries in the world, both friends and enemies. Now it’s time for good old America to get some of that money and pay respect. Trump wrote about the true society of April 2 at the beginning of March.

Here’s what happened during Trump’s tenth week in office:

Wednesday’s tariffs, following Trump, have already leveled 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, 25% tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico, and 20% tariffs on goods from China.

An additional 25% tariff on all vehicles imported into the US will also take effect late this Wednesday.

Trump says that if foreign automakers increased prices over tariffs, they “we couldn’t care much”: “We have a lot.”

Trump is also expected to have another conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week as the two world leaders continued to work last week to help Trump and his administration resolve the peace deal between Russia and Ukraine amid the ongoing war.

But on Sunday, Trump told NBC News that he was “offended” with Putin after the Russian president denounced the leader of Ukrainian President Voldime Zelenkie last week. Russia also carried out a series of attacks on Ukraine over the weekend amid ongoing consultations to reach a potential peace deal.

Trump says he is “offended” with Putin about his lack of progress in peace: Report

“If Russia and I can’t get a contract in Ukraine to stop the bloodshed, and if I think it’s Russia’s fault, it may not be, but if I think it’s Russia’s fault, I’ll put secondary tariffs on oil, I’ll put all the oil coming out of Russia,” Trump told NBC News.

“That means if you buy oil from Russia, you can’t do business in the US,” he continued. “There is a 25% tariff on all oil, and there is a 25-50 point tariff on all oil.”

Trump added that if Putin “doesn’t do the right thing,” his anger “will dissipate quickly.”

This week, Trump is also expected to evaluate his options for his “Golden Dome” missile defense project, according to Defense One. Trump signed an executive order in January to build “Next-Generation Missile Defense Shield for the US against ballistic, polar sound quality, advanced cruise missiles, and other next-generation aviation attacks.” Trump was called the “Golden Dome” earlier this month. This is a play about Israeli air defense systems called “Iron Dome.”

Trump’s 11th week in office has continued since January 20th at a breakneck pace in executive orders and actions. Trump has only signed at least 106 executive orders, exceeding the number of executive orders his predecessor has signed in each of his years since the Carter administration.

Anders Hagstrom and Eric Revell from Fox News contributed to this report.
