At least five vehicles suffered heavy damage in the San Fernando Valley Friday morning, chasing a speeding driver ended in a violent collision.
It happened around 7:40am in the North Hills area shortly after the California Highway Patrol abandoned its pursuit due to safety concerns.
A few minutes ago, CHP officials found a white Honda Civic traveling the 405 highway at a speed of about 125 mph. The officer tried to pull the vehicle, but the driver escaped.
Within minutes, the driver left the highway on the surface, and the pursuit was halted due to a potential danger.

A video shared with KTLA showed the massacre that followed after the same vehicle collided with a turning pickup truck in the 15,400 block of Nordhoff Street.
Pickup attempted to turn left into the parking lot when the speeding sedan arrived at the Flash, crashed into the passenger side of the truck, leaving it out of control. The sedan slammed several parked cars, sent debris across the road, and the pickups spin violently at traffic coming towards the moving vehicle.
At least five vehicles were involved in two separate crashes.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and took the two to a local hospital. CHP officials confirmed that one of the people transported was the suspect driver.
The condition of the injured person has not been revealed. The crash is under investigation.
