The 14-year-old boy was killed in a crash of two vehicles in Riverside County, officials confirmed Friday.
It happened Thursday morning at the intersection of Clamelia and Gardner Streets in Woodcrest, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Riverside officials answered a 6:05am call on the crash, which included a dirt bike and a Toyota 4 runner, and arrived to find the teenager dead on the scene.
Although details are limited, a preliminary investigation reveals a 14-year-old dirt biker running westward on Clamelia Avenue, approaching the intersection at an unknown speed.
At the same time, the 4runner driver said he was heading north down Gardner Avenue when the two vehicles collided for reasons still under investigation. CHP noted that the intersection is controlled by a stop sign.
“As a result of the crash, the rider succumbed to injuries and was declared dead at the scene by firefighters,” CHP said in the release. Authorities did not publicly identify the four teens or drivers.
The CHP is actively investigating the crash and encourages witnesses who may have observed the incident to call California Highway Patrol, the accident investigation unit at 951-324-7210.
