Footage of the violent arrest that went viral on social media last week shows officers cruelly blaming a 17-year-old girl in handcuffs.

The May 21 incident occurred at a San Bernardino Food 4less grocery store around 2pm, according to Najee Ali, a family spokesman who spoke at a Sunday press conference outside the San Bernardino Police Station.

Police said they were called to the area for reports of trespassers and people actively trying to fight others.

The video on the phone captured the first moment a police cruiser and a face-up teen was lifted from her legs and slammed to the ground by officers.

A young black girl, a resident of San Bernardino, identified only as Erin, suffered several injuries during the incident, requiring immediate treatment for her dislocated wrist, and her chin and her needed stitching face.

The video on the phone was filmed on May 21, 2025, a 17-year-old girl, partially handcuffed by San Bernardino police, and was slammed hard to the ground by San Bernardino police. “He shouldn’t have put his hands on her, but he picked up my child like she was a ragdoll and slammed her to the ground,” said Erin’s father, Christopher Croser. “I want justice.”

In the footage of the phone, another officer standing in front of the officer who slams his teen into the ground is seen releasing his metal baton as the person filming appears to be trying to get a better view of the girl while he is on the ground.

As for her 17-year-old herself, she says the violence hurt her.

“Since that day I’ve been feeling a lot of pain and I’m scared to fall asleep,” she explained. “It’s scary because you just go outside and get out the trash, you don’t know what’s going to happen.”

In a statement by officials at the San Bernardino Police Station, officers handcuffed one of Erin’s hands and only handed when she reportedly began to pull away.

Erin’s family believes the entire situation is being mistreated and they are asking state attorney general Rob Bonta to lead an in-depth investigation into the case.

“That’s not right,” said Erin’s grandmother, Michael Phillips. “I’m not all police. I want those who felt forced to slap my granddaughter.”

The attorney representing the family told KTLA that he intends to file a lawsuit against the police station.
