Two people died when two small, single-engine private planes collided into the air at Arizona Airport.
The Lancair 360 MK II and Cessna 172S collided at around 8:30am local time at Marana Regional Airport, an uncontrolled airfield northwest of Tucson.
Details that led to the crash were not available immediately. According to the FAA, both aircraft had two passengers.
The uncontrolled airfield does not have operational air transport towers. Pilots should use general traffic advisory frequencies to communicate their position to nearby pilots.
Police will respond to the scene and the National Traffic Safety Commission will begin an investigation.
The FAA has issued the following statement: “We collided into the air with Cessna 172 at about 8:25am on Wednesday, February 19th at Arizona’s Marana Regional Airport. The Marana Regional Airport is uncontrolled. Lancair and two people were on a Cessna 172. FAA and NTSB will lead the investigation.”
The recent Air Force has included a crash crash at Toronto Airport this week, a fatal air ambulance crash in Philadelphia on January 31, and an airborne collision between an Army helicopter and a commercial airplane in Washington, D.C. Continuing with the disaster.
