The 20-year-old man faces murder charges after the young child was found in a parking lot in Panorama City on Saturday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Malik Brexon Gadis was booked for causing injuries due to murder and domestic violence.
Gadis, who appears elsewhere in prison records as Brixon Malik Gadis, is accused of the death of a child who died near a trash can in the car park at a mall in the 8200 block of Van Nuis Boulevard. The boy was identified as Eliziah Khan, 5.
The location is less than half a mile from the Lanark Street apartment where three people were detained Tuesday. The other two were found on Sunset Boulevard and Ivers Street in Hollywood, police said it brought about the total number of people detained by five.
Kareen Wynter of KTLA reports that Gaddis has been arrested, one other person has been arrested on an unrelated warrant, while three others have been released from custody.
But at least one neighbor believes that in this case the police have identified the wrong people.
Triono Coleman said he and his wife knew Gaddis and his wife well.
“We talk almost every day – especially [his wife and I] Because she’s my wife and best friend,” Coleman said. “We pray together and share our meals.”
Coleman added that he is speaking on behalf of Gaddis.
“All he does is play the game and do his best to take care of his family,” Coleman said.
