This year started with heavy rains and massive landslides in Southern California, and ended in equally dramatic fashion with wildfires burning across the Southland.
Genaro Molina chronicled the end of an era at the Times’ Olympic printing plant. After making the outsourcing decision, the company announced that the facility, once the crown jewel of its vast media empire, would close in 2024.
Times photographer Robert Gauthier captured all the commotion backstage at the 2024 Emmy Awards as winners returned backstage and presenters waited in the wings. The stars gathered around, read cue cards and watched off-stage monitors.
The Times’ photography staff covered the university’s protests. There, a group of demonstrators at UCLA, one of many universities where students are erecting tents, as part of a wave of protests by students, faculty and staff calling for an end to Israeli actions and divestment in Gaza. collided.
