Los Angeles avoided potential traffic nightmares after the 2026 Academy Awards and the Los Angeles Marathon were scheduled for the same day in Japan.
Last month it was announced that the Oscar and the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon will be held in Hollywood on March 15th.
However, officials said Thursday that both sides were able to reach an agreement to make the Oscars the first on March 15th.
“Under the leadership of Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have confirmed the dates for the 2026 calendar that allow each to take place on separate dates in March,” the marathon will be announced in the coming days.
To prevent the possibility of future duplication, the two organizations also agreed to the La Marathon on the third Sunday of March.
“The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon and the Academy Awards have also agreed to establish a partnership to promote each other’s events to benefit the Greater Los Angeles community,” the statement added.
The 98th Academy Awards will be hosted again by Conan O’Brien.
