The violence and looting that emerged from the Trump administration’s protests against immigrant crackdown have led to more than 40 arrests and injured at least five law enforcement officials.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles Police Department and the California Highway Patrol collectively arrested 42 people, according to a LASD spokesperson.
Madison, a LAPD officer, confirmed the number and said the charges include failure to disband, deadly weapon assault on a peace officer, looting and arson.
Sergeant. CHP’s Daniel Keene said 19 of them were made by his agency.
Over the weekend, a crowd of protesters took them to downtown Los Angeles to protest the federal immigrant raid.
Some of these protests became violent, breaking stores, Waymo’s vehicles burned, rocks and other debris thrown at law enforcement.
Madison added that five LAPD officers were hurt by the confusion. Three of them were handled on the scene, while the other two suffered minor injuries.
Keene said six CHP officials were also injured, but they were minor injuries.
LASD said no reported injuries to the deputy.
President Donald Trump has brought in thousands of servicemen in response to his unrest. This just added tensions to local and state officials.
