A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of robberies in Orange County, authorities announced Wednesday.
Garden Grove Police Department said in a news release that investigators recognized a pattern in at least five robberies that occurred in early January.
“Detectives became aware of several incidents with similar circumstances and began cross-referencing each of the five incidents to see if it was the same suspect,” police said, reviewing surveillance footage and After speaking with witnesses, detectives added that they believed all incidents likely involved the same suspect.
During the investigation, detectives contacted other law enforcement agencies in Orange County to see if there were any robberies with similar circumstances and discovered three more robberies, bringing the total to eight robberies. was found to be occurring.

Based on the information gathered, law enforcement began surveilling the suspect, identified as Garden Grove resident David Zamarripa, and detained him as he attempted to leave a hotel in the city.

“During the subsequent investigation, detectives recovered evidence of a robbery and a weapon that may have been used,” police said.
Authorities have not provided any information on what similarities exist between the cases, and the identity of the victim has not been determined.
Zamarripa was booked into the Orange County Jail.
