The Los Angeles County 605 Highway segment will be closed this weekend and next week for work on a major project rehabilitating the highway from Long Beach to San Gabriel Valley, officials said Friday.
Some southbound highways will be closed this weekend. The entire southbound highway between Sloughson Avenue and Interstate 5 in Santa Fe Springs will be closed on Friday and Sunday nights, according to Caltrans.
Closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows:
On the southbound I-605 from Slauson Avenue to I-5, all southbound lanes will be closed from 10pm to 4:01am on Saturday, with K-rails and temporary stripes placed. On I-605 southbound from Slauson Avenue to I-5, all southbound lanes will be closed again from 11pm on Sunday to 5:01am on Monday, removing K-rail and restripe the highway. On I-605, southbound from Telegraph Road to I-5, two southbound lanes will be open for traffic from 4:01am on Saturday to 11pm on Sunday.

The closure from the southbound I-5 connector to the southbound I-605 will be closed. The connector from the southbound I-605 connector to the northbound and southbound I-5 connector is closed. I-605, southbound, from the onramp on eastbound Washington Boulevard Boulevard, will be closed. It will be closed from the eastbound Slauson Avenue onramp southbound I-605. The on-ramp and off-ramp telegraph roads on the southbound I-605 will be closed. The Florence Avenue Off Ramp from Southbound I-605 will be closed.
During the highway closure time, traffic is decoupled via local arterial routes. This section of I-605 has an average of over 15 million vehicles per day, and Caltrans has urged drivers to avoid areas during construction whenever possible, including southbound I-1110, I-710 and state route 57, and to use the highways whenever possible.
This work is part of the Super 605 Freeway Corridor Projects. The approximately $260 million construction costs are funded by $238 million from the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Employment Act and more than $20 million from Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
Separately, lane and ramp closures are scheduled for next week on both sides of the highway between Cerritos and Irwindahl, with excavation, concrete work, asphalt pavement, K-rail arrangement, striping, guardrail work, signature removal and installation, and electrical and drainage work.
The next lane and ramp closures will be effective Monday through Wednesday from 9am to 5am and 9pm to 4pm. Thursday and Friday nights:
Up to two lanes northbound and southbound 605 have been closed from Telegraph Road to I-10. Northbound and Southbound 605 connectors go to eastbound and westbound state routes 60 and I-10.
The next closure will be effective Monday through Friday through 10am to 6am, unless otherwise specified.
Up to two lanes to be closed from I-10 to I-210 to I-210, from northbound and southbound 605. 605 northbound from the Ramona Blvd Bird on Ramp. RAMONABOULEVARD and ARROW HIGHWAY OFFWAY OFF-RAMPS SOUTHBOUND 605.
The left turn lane of the southbound 605 off-ramp eastbound arrow highway will be closed until April 18, 2025 to accommodate the expansion of the off-ramp. The right turn lane will remain open.
The lanes for all closures reopen each morning.
More extended weekend closures may be announced later over consecutive weekends from 2025 to 2025, and sometimes weekend extension dates may be announced later.
