According to multiple media reports, the 64-year-old woman who has lived in the US without documents for more than 20 years is facing deportation after making the wrong turn.

Ana Camero left La Jora Restaurant, which works as a dishwasher on April 7, stopped to get gas, then turned around and was accidentally drawn into a Marine Corps depot in San Diego, where she was asked for proper identification.

Unable to provide it, an immigration enforcement officer was called and while she parked outside the base, waiting for more information in the vehicle, she saw the border guards arrive, Mercury News reported.

It was only after a call from a Marine Corps spokesman that Camero’s family learned that her mother, suffering from diabetes and having a vascular condition, was in custody.

The 64-year-old Mexican native was held at Otaymesa Detention Center in San Diego, but it is unclear whether she will remain there.

“Her legs are already beginning to swell again due to lack of circulation, which can lead to serious consequences without treatment,” her daughter Melissa Hernandez wrote in the GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for legal representation.

Officials at Marine Corps Recruit Depot told the Los Angeles Times that anyone attempting to participate in the establishment of the federal government were asked to provide government-issued IDs and that Border Patrol has been notified if they are unable to.

“This applies whether an individual claims that the entry is incorrect,” the official said in a statement obtained by The Times. “As a federal establishment, we are required to support all federal laws. [or laws]. ”

Additionally, US immigration and customs offices confirmed with the outlet that the 64-year-old was in custody and was being processed for Mexico’s deportation.

According to Camelo’s family, she was offered an attorney during her court appearance at the detention center and intends to fight the order, but it is unclear exactly where she is at the 64-year-old’s course.
