Eight members of the Newhall 13 gang were arrested Thursday in a massive assault operation in Santa Clarita.
The crackdown was the result of a two-year investigation into serious crimes, including the activities of criminal flocks, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
After identifying and finding the suspect, 13 search warrants were provided at a Santa Clarita Valley location.

Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station and Lt. Col. Brandon Berkeley told the Santa Clarita Valley: “Newhall 13 has been a generational gang for several years and is responsible for our Part I crimes, or many crimes against anyone, including shooting and assault with a deadly weapon.
More than 150 LASD officials were involved in the business with support from the LA County District Attorney’s Office, the LA County Department of Children and Families Services, and the FBI Los Angeles department.
“The boy and the gang (Jug) team detectives who led this effort have worked tirelessly for two years to complete the case,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “All arrests and all weapons recovered are a step towards maintaining the peace and quality of life that is worthy of our community. Violent crimes are not tolerated in Santa Clarita.”
