A convicted felon who served 26 years in prison for armored car robbery and was released on mercy in 2022 was found guilty of committing the same crime last year.
Markham David Bond, 61, of Englewood, robbed a Brinks delivery worker at gunpoint on Aug. 18, 2023, in a Chase Bank parking lot near Los Angeles International Airport.
Bond used a handgun to steal $145,000 in cash, ordered the delivery man to the ground and threatened to kill him before fleeing with a duffel bag full of cash.

Investigators found the getaway car, a Chevrolet Tahoe with characteristic damage, just a few blocks from Bond’s home. Inside, police recovered Brinks’ empty bag and a hat matching surveillance footage, which was later positively matched to Bond through DNA testing.
A search of Bond’s home revealed a loaded .40 caliber pistol, the clothes he was wearing at the time of the robbery, and $9,000 in crumpled cash hidden in the refrigerator.
Mr. Bond, whose convictions span decades, has previously served nearly 47 years in prison for similar robbery and firearms violations, including a conviction for robbing an armored car delivery man in 1995. It will be done.

Despite objections from federal prosecutors, Bond was released in 2022 under federal guidelines for elderly or seriously ill inmates because his health was deemed fragile and he was no longer a threat to the community.
Bond, who now faces remand to federal prison, was convicted of burglary interfering with commerce, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Bond is scheduled to be sentenced in July next year. He could be sentenced to up to life in prison.
