President-elect Trump warned Senate Republicans on social media Tuesday night about a potential deal with Democrats after he withdrew his recent ambassadorial nominations.
Republican leaders first nominated Herschel Walker to serve as U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas. Walker, a staunch Trump ally, is running for the U.S. Senate as a candidate from Georgia in 2022.
President Trump’s post began: “I am pleased to nominate Herschel Walker as the United States Ambassador to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.” “For decades, Herschel has served as an ambassador to our nation’s youth, military men and women, and national and international athletes.”
President Trump went on to call former National Football League player Walker a “successful businessman, philanthropist, former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL great.” The president-elect also praised Walker’s accomplishments during the first Trump administration.

“During my first term, he co-chaired the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. Herschel visited over 400 military installations around the world and removed the stigma surrounding mental health.” Trump added. “He represented the United States at the 1992 Winter Olympics as a member of the U.S. bobsled team.”
“Congratulations, Hershel! You’ll make Georgia, and our entire country, proud, because we know you always put America first!”
Following his post about Walker, President Trump announced his selection of Nicole McGraw to be the U.S. ambassador to Croatia. The president-elect described McGraw as a “philanthropist, businessman, and world-renowned art collector.”

“Nicole brought the arts to people through her work leading CANVAS Arts Charities and raised millions of dollars for neglected and abused children as a board member of Place of Hope,” Trump wrote. “She graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BA in Art History and Studio Art. Congratulations, Nicole!”
After announcing his nominees, President Trump concluded with a memo warning Senate Republicans not to make deals with Democrats to “rush” nominations this month.

“To Senate Republicans: There is no agreement with Democrats to rush the nomination after this Congress ends,” Trump wrote. “I have won the greatest commission in 129 years. I will be making the appointments of highly qualified individuals in January when I will be sworn in.”
