Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday launched a new billboard campaign warning potential illegal immigrants of the “terrifying” realities of human trafficking, violence and the dangers they face if they attempt to enter the country illegally. Announced.

Abbott said the state has placed dozens of signs across Mexico and Central America with warnings in multiple languages.

“We’re here to expose the truth to migrants who are thinking of coming here, and the truth to the traffickers who prey on so many women and children along the way.” Ta. “The message is: don’t take a dangerous trip just to get arrested and deported.”

Abbott, who recently returned to the border with incoming border czar Tom Homan, also emphasized that the new Trump administration will “prioritize the deportation of apprehended illegal immigrants.”

Signs will be written in Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabic and will be placed along migrants’ routes.

The governor made the announcement at a ranch on the southern border. He was standing next to a burnt rape tree. Property owners claim that migrant women were routinely raped there. Abbott said the billboards “tell the horrifying stories of human trafficking” and “bring potential illegal immigrants to the reality of what happens when they try to enter Texas illegally.” .

Abbott criticized the government and private organizations for “acting as if coming into Texas is harmless,” and said the state “is trying to save people’s lives and save them from harm by coming to Texas.” “We’re trying to provide real facts to immigrants who are considering it.” To prevent sexual assault, save them from arrest and let them know there will be consequences if they take any further steps to come to Texas. ”

“This is tough medicine, but we don’t want Texas to be planting any more rapeseed,” Abbott said. “Please don’t make the dangerous journey to Texas.”

The governor went on to lament the historic surge in illegal immigration under the Biden administration, saying, “This is a deadly situation, it’s a scary situation, and it’s about a month into President Trump’s inauguration and government shutdown. We fully expect it to be over within a short period of time.” Restore security and normalcy to immigration processes across borders. ”
