Los Angeles County Metro announced it will offer free service on all bus and rail lines, as well as on its Metro Micro and Metro Bike Share programs, on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve this year.
“Fare gates at all Metro Rail stations will be unlatched and fare boxes and validators will not deduct fares from TAP cards or fare media,” Metro said in a news release announcing the plan.

Fares will not be collected during the following times.
Tuesday, December 24th from 4:00 a.m. to Wednesday, December 25th at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 4:00 a.m. to Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at 3:00 a.m.
Metro Micro passengers were told in an X post to use the code Merry24 on Christmas Eve and Ring24 on New Year’s Eve.
Metro Bike is free from December 24th to January 1st (code 010125).
The 24-hour service extension will begin on New Year’s Eve and continue on the A, B, D and E lines until New Year’s Day. The C and K lines will run until 2 a.m. “to ensure everyone gets home safely during the holidays.” Metro revealed.
The transit agency announced it will run additional early morning trains with increased capacity on the A Line for people heading to the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl on January 1st.
