Santa Monica police are asking for help identifying the driver who allegedly hit and killed a person Sunday.
The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Chelsea Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard on Sunday around 6:40 p.m. Officials said the victim, who has not yet been released, was crossing southbound on Wilshire when he collided with a white Toyota Rav4 that was heading east on Wilshire.
The driver of the Toyota then fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
The pedestrian, a Vietnam War veteran and resident of Santa Monica, was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, police released graphic video footage of the crash. In the video, the Toyota can be seen speeding away after the accident threw an elderly victim.

Additional photos released showed a clear image of the suspect’s Toyota and security footage of the alleged driver.
The photo showed what appeared to be a bearded man wearing glasses, a black hoodie and gray sweatpants.
