Dangerous weather conditions along Southern California waters have prompted first responders to scale back the search for two fishermen whose boat was found capsized on a rocky shore along Palos Verdes Estates. .
The fishermen, described only as two men in their 50s, left Cabrillo Beach on Monday and were expected to return by midnight.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the report and launched a massive search using drones, rescue boats and helicopters.
Two beachcombers, Finley Murphy and Olivia Mogian, happened to see the wreck while collecting shells along the Paseo del Mar coastline.

” [boat] I was completely turned upside down,” Murphy told KTLA’s Gene Kang. “There were holes in the hull and several life jackets, a propeller, a cooler and a child’s life jacket were scattered on the beach.”
Los Angeles County Fire Marine Lifeguard Specialist Jake Miller said KTLA search and rescue teams were operating in difficult conditions.

“We saturated everything we could, from the cliffs to the ocean, without finding anything,” he explained.
The operation was scaled back as storm surge, heavy fog and ocean layers made the search even more difficult, and officials said they would survey the area from the air over the next few days.
“It’s definitely a bummer for the holidays and it’s terrible for the family and the situation,” Murphy said.
