A Covina high school teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting two students, prosecutors said.
The assault charges began in 2022, according to a news release from Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hockman’s office.
Joshua Daniel McGinn, 41, was arrested on December 18th on suspicion of committing a crime. At his arraignment hearing on January 6th, he will be formally charged with:
4 felony counts of oral copulation with a person under 18 years of age 1 felony count of sexual penetration by use of force 1 misdemeanor count of sexual assault 2 felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor 3 years or more younger than a minor 1 Felony of Contact with a Minor for a Sex Crime 1 Felony of Possession of Child Pornography or Juvenile Pornography
According to prosecutors, the acts were committed against two female students under the age of 18. At the time of his arrest, McGinn was a teacher at Charter Oak High School. He is still listed in the staff directory on the school’s website.
“Prosecutors in the Sex Crimes Unit are working tirelessly to ensure justice is served for victims and their families,” Hochman said in a statement. “We would also like to encourage anyone who may have additional information or who has been victimized to come forward and report information to the Covina Police Department. Thank you for your courage in speaking out. is very important and we are here to ensure justice is served.”
If convicted, McGinn could face up to 13 years and six months in state prison.
