LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – About 40,000 Edison customers in Southern California were left without power after a transformer failed in the Downey-Norwalk area early on Christmas Eve.
According to SCE’s outage map, the problem began around 1:30 p.m. Southern California Edison spokeswoman Kathleen Dunleavy told KTLA the utility has no timeline for when power will be restored. he said.
“Our crews are on the ground working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. We know this is a difficult time to be without power right before the holidays,” Dunleavy said. spoke. “We recognize this is a critical situation and we want to restore power for our customers.”

Metro’s C (Green) Line trains were temporarily stopped between the Norwalk and Willowbrook/Rose Park stops as a result of the power outage, but regular C Line train service resumed around 5 p.m., Metro said. A subway official said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Downey officials sent police to help control traffic at the intersection where the traffic light was out.
“We encourage residents to use caution when driving through affected areas,” officials said in a statement.
