A gruesome discovery was made on the shores of Palos Verdes, where a family out for a walk on Christmas morning discovered a human foot on the shoreline, police said.
Police searched the area again using dogs trained to detect human remains, but no other traces were found and the latest finds may be related to the two fishermen who disappeared on Tuesday. There was no clue as to what.
“Our beaches are typically rocky, but it is our understanding that although they are on the shoreline, they are on some rocks,” Aaron Verda of the Rancho Palos Verdes Estates Police Department wrote in the caption. He added: “We are not ruling anything out at this time and are considering all possibilities, but there is no reason to believe that the two are related.”
Neighbors expressed concern after the gruesome discovery.
“This is terrible,” said Palos Verdes resident John Clayton. “Christmas is supposed to be a season of joy. My heart goes out to my family.”
Palos Verdes Estates police are still investigating, but have not confirmed whether the foot found is related to the discovery of a skull and bones a short distance off the same beach in November.
The coroner has not yet identified the human remains.
