Police in Mexico’s Chihuahua state believe the Venezuelan gang Torren de Aragua may be behind the murder of a Mexican immigrant worker just south of the U.S. border.

On December 30th, Mexican immigration official Luis Alberto Olivas was thrown down a hill and stoned to death by two Venezuelan immigrants identified as David JV and Carlos Arichuna SM. The murder took place at a military checkpoint near Ciudad Juárez, just to the south. Originally from El Paso, Texas.

According to Border Report, Mexican authorities believe that at least one Venezuelan is a member of Torren de Aragua (TdA), a transnational criminal organization that facilitates much of the drug and human trafficking in the region. I think it’s suspicious.

Gilberto Loya, head of the Chihuahua state public safety department, told Border Report that one of the alleged killers “has tattoos that we have identified as possibly being associated with Torren de Aragua.” He said the police would share this information with other agencies and “await the next bilateral meeting.” to check in [American] database. ”

The tattoo in question depicts an owl, a symbol that Mexican investigative journalist Luis Chaparro says is “common among members of the Torren de Aragua” and is often used as a “guide” for human smugglers. It is said to indicate “people”.

According to local news source El Diario MX, two people believed to be members of Torren de Aragua threw a stone at Olivas’ chest and pushed him, causing him to fall 6 meters down a hill, before hitting him in the head with a large stone. He is said to have caused his death. .
