National Guard troops arrived overnight to help with road closures Friday as firefighters continued to work to slow the spread of the massive Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County.
Video shows L.A. sheriff’s deputies sending troops to Altadena to provide reinforcements to help patrol the neighborhood and thwart possible looting. At least 20 people have already been arrested for looting within evacuation zones during the recent wildfire outbreak.

Meanwhile, crews continue to work to slow the progress of the 13,960-acre Eaton Fire, which broke out on Mount Wilson Thursday afternoon. Officials said firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from damaging infrastructure.
The fire broke out Tuesday in hurricane-force winds near Altadena Drive and Midwick Drive in the Altadena area, burning an estimated 1,000 structures. The containment rate remained at 0% Thursday night.

Evacuation orders (red) and warnings (yellow) that are still in effect for much of Altadena, Pasadena, and surrounding areas can be seen on the map above. An interactive map is available on the California.gov website.
Authorities are working hard to get residents back into their homes as quickly as possible, but are asking for patience.
“It’s very dangerous. There’s still structural damage. There’s open gas lines. There’s downed power lines. We don’t want anyone to expose themselves to these elements and we don’t want them to We also don’t want to put our first responders at further risk,” said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Meza said.
The following school districts had previously announced they would remain closed Friday due to the Eaton Fire.
Glendale Unified School District La Cañada Unified Pasadena Unified School District
Several other school districts closed Thursday and could close Friday as well.
At least 10 people have been reported dead in wildfires across Southern California.
