L.A. Metro will suspend fare collection on trains and buses through Sunday as wildfires continue to ravage some areas of the county, officials announced Saturday.
The agency announced earlier this week that Los Angeles County Supervisor and Metro Commission Chair Janice Hahn had authorized the agency to suspend fare collection systemwide. The agency has extended free rides into the weekend to help residents move, including to evacuation centers.
Metro has also created a map showing shelters and resource centers located near bus and rail lines.
Officials said wildfires and winds are affecting service on some bus and rail routes, so passengers should allow extra time to board.
