Former Vice President Mike Pence has revealed a brief exchange with President-elect Trump that was caught on camera at former President Carter’s state funeral.
The two have not been seen together in public since leaving the White House following disagreements over the results of the 2020 election. During the service at the National Cathedral, Mr. Pence stood up and shook Mr. Trump’s hand, and the two appeared to have a pleasant chat.

In an interview with Christianity Today, Pence said he would “welcome” the opportunity to meet with Trump.
“He greeted me as I came down the aisle. I stood up and extended my hand. He shook it. I said, ‘Congratulations, Mr. President,’ and he said, ‘Thank you, Mike.’ “Pence said.

Mr. Pence also recalled one of his last conversations with Mr. Trump in 2021, in which he told Mr. Trump that he would “continue to pray for him.” According to the newspaper, President Trump responded, “Don’t worry about it.”
“I said, ‘You know, there are probably two things we can never agree on. … We can probably never agree on what my obligations were under the Constitution on January 6th. ‘And I said, ‘And I’ll never stop praying for you,”’ Pence told Christianity Today. “And he said, ‘That’s right, Mike, never change.'”
He said he kept his promise.
