Three large fires broke out in Los Angeles County Sunday morning, including the deadly Eaton Fire and the Palisades Fire.
That number is down from seven at one point last week, when firefighters said strong winds sparked the blazes, the worst in Los Angeles County.
Here’s what you need to know about three major fires burning Sunday afternoon:
Palisades Fire: Located along the coast of Los Angeles County, the largest wildfire in Los Angeles County and the third most destructive on record in California broke out in the Pacific Palisades on Tuesday, burning 23,713 acres. Containment rate is 11 percent. Eaton Fire: A 14,117-acre fire broke out Tuesday night in the hills above Altadena. The fire, located northeast of Los Angeles, is 27 percent contained, making it the fourth costliest fire on record in California’s Hearst Fire. Fires also broke out in the northern San Fernando Valley on Tuesday. The approximately 800-acre fire is 89 percent contained.
Firefighters have completely stopped or stopped the Lydia Fire in the Antelope Valley north of Los Angeles. Kenneth Fire in the San Fernando Valley west of Los Angeles. Sunset Fire near Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills. and the Woodley Fire in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, also in the San Fernando Valley.
Winds eased Sunday but are expected to pick up early in the week.
