(Kron) A man dressed as a firefighter was arrested Saturday after trying to break into an evacuation home in the Malibu area, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s Department Chief Robert Luna held a press conference to inform the community.
“I was out in the Malibu area and I saw a gentleman who looked like a firefighter and I asked him if he was okay sitting down. I didn’t know he was handcuffed,” Luna said. “We were turning them over to the LAPD because he was dressed like a firefighter, but he wasn’t. He had just been arrested for a home invasion.”
Death toll from Eaton and Palisades fires rises to 24, authorities say
One person was arrested for violating a curfew in the Palisades area on Saturday, Los Angeles Sheriff’s officials announced. Luna said the person in custody resisted arrest.
In Eaton, authorities announced six arrests, three on curfew violations and the rest on charges of concealing firearms and drug-related items.
