Forecasters expect another storm to hit Southern California this week, creating what authorities describe as a particularly dangerous situation (PDS) across the region.
Locally strong wind gusts of 45 to 70 mph are expected from early Tuesday morning into Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

“It won’t be as devastating winds as last week, but it will still be just as severe,” KTLA’s Kirk Hawkins said Monday. “During this period, the mountains of San Bernardino County will experience wind gusts of 80 to 90 mph in areas east of Cajon Pass.”
Wind advisories, high wind warnings and red flag warnings are in effect for much of Southern California through Wednesday.
“With no rain, the bushes and grass are dry and it’s like a tinderbox,” Kirk said.
The NWS has identified three PDS areas of concern on the map embedded in the image above.
Large fires in the Palisades and Eaton broke out last week amid stronger storms. Firefighters have made significant progress in the fight to extinguish these deadly blazes, but efforts to strengthen containment will continue until high winds return to the area.
