Edwin Castro, winner of November 2022’s historic $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot, lost his Malibu home in the Palisades fire.
Inside Edition reported that Castro spent $3.8 million of his winnings on a beachfront property in 2022, but a massive fire reduced the home to rubble.
According to TMZ, the two-bedroom, three-bathroom home had beach access.

He may have lost this property, but he still has other properties.
In March 2023, he purchased a luxury complex in the Hollywood Hills for $25.5 million. Around the same time, they also purchased a five-bed, five-bath home in the 2100 block of Midlothian Drive in Altadena.

According to various reports, Castro’s homes in both of these locations were not damaged by the Sunset and Eaton fires.
More than two years ago, Mr. Castro bought the winning ticket at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena. He chose to take the $997.6 million lump sum payment option and spent his winnings on real estate.

The Palisades Fire started on Jan. 7 and had exploded to 23,713 acres as of Monday, with 14% containment, according to CalFire.
