“Barry” actor Bill Hader’s Pacific Palisades home escaped a devastating wildfire, but when he returned and saw the devastation around him, he was unprepared.

“People keep saying ‘unreal,’ and it is. It doesn’t feel real,” he explained to KTLA 5. This beautiful beautiful area, like the heart of the Palisades, is all gone. ”

The “SNL” alum was at work, not at home, when evacuations began in the neighborhood.

“Barry” actor Bill Hader’s Pacific Palisades home survived a devastating wildfire, but he was unprepared for the devastation surrounding him. This segment aired on KTLA 5 Morning News on January 14, 2025.

“I got the video of the fire and rushed back, but by the time I got back there was traffic jam,” he said.

KTLA was with Hader when he first returned to the neighborhood. He found his house still standing, but with some damage.

When he inspected the aftermath of the massive Palisades fire, he was visibly shocked and speechless.

“I’m glad my family was able to evacuate,” he said of the evacuation.

“It’s kind of mind-boggling that it happened so fast,” he said, still unable to believe what happened to what he touted as a “great community.” he said.

For now, I just hope that everyone is safe. From this experience, I learned to evacuate for my own peace of mind when I feel threatened.

“If an evacuation order is issued, please evacuate immediately,” he said sternly. “I know people who have managed to say, “Well, we’ll see” or “I’m in the yellow zone.” Once you’re in the red zone, you can’t get out of it.”

“Don’t listen to friends who say, ‘Oh, you’re a little crazy,'” he advised. “Just get out.”

The Palisades Fire started on January 7th, has grown to 23,713 acres, and is only 17% contained as of January 14th. Officials say eight people have died in the wildfires so far.
