Parking enforcement has been temporarily lifted in many areas of Los Angeles County as crews continue to battle the region’s devastating wildfires.
However, don’t expect to park your car anywhere you want without any consequences.
Parking enforcement regulations were relaxed when the fire broke out last week. But as cities begin to recover and rebuild, some agencies have resumed parking enforcement operations, while others will continue to not issue parking tickets to motorists.
The current status of parking enforcement near the fire scene is as follows.
pasadena
The city of Pasadena has suspended most parking enforcement until further notice, the city said on its website. Suspended operations include street cleaning and night and priority parking enforcement.
However, the city will continue to issue citations for red flag violations, such as parking in red zones or no-parking zones, and blocking fire hydrants or driveways.
Red flag parking regulations were put in place to clear roads by towing vehicles blocking access for emergency vehicles during heightened fire conditions.

Altadena
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Altadena Station is addressing parking-related issues in unincorporated communities and has suspended parking enforcement starting this week, the department confirmed Wednesday.
Sheriff’s Lt. Ethan Marquez said helping residents evacuate safely is the department’s primary focus.
“People losing their homes and getting parking tickets on their cars is not really our focus,” Marquez said. “We will resume normal operations as soon as the mandatory evacuation is lifted.”
Marquez said the sheriff’s office is working with other county agencies to develop a plan to remove burned cars along the city’s main roads. Residents should expect parking enforcement to resume as the community shifts its focus to recovering from the fire.
If you receive a parking citation, you can dispute it by accessing the Los Angeles County Parking Violations Department’s online parking ticket payment system. This system has a $2.25 service fee.
County Public Works Strategic Communications Director Keljon Lee said crews are working to remove debris in Altadena. Once the debris is removed, street cleaning will resume next week or sooner, Lee said.
pacific palisades
Last week, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation eased enforcement of non-safety-related parking violations citywide, Public Affairs Director Colin Sweeney said. However, enforcement resumed in many areas of Los Angeles on January 13th.
However, parking restrictions will not be enforced in areas near the Hearst and Palisades fire or on streets within a one-block radius of the evacuation site. LADOT traffic officers will not issue citations for the following violations:

Mr Sweeney said other parking regulations would remain in place, including red curbs, red flag violations, passenger loading zones and handicap parking violations.
malibu
The city of Malibu has suspended parking enforcement, spokesman Kyle Oldorp said. Numerous dumpsters have been set up along Pacific Coast Highway to remove debris.
The city is evaluating street cleaning services and could resume them next week. Residents are advised not to park in red zones or areas with no parking signs. Ordorp said law enforcement will address these violations on a case-by-case basis.
