A man was found shot to death in Santa Monica, and police are searching for the suspect.
The suspect was identified as Fabian Mendez, Santa Monica police said.
Police said the shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 15 in the 200 block of Broadway.
Moments before the shooting, the victim, described only as a homeless man in his 30s, was seen arguing with an unidentified woman.
Authorities said Mendez approached the victim and chased him into the middle of the road before shooting him in the back.
Officers found the victim lying on the ground, where he was pronounced dead. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. He is considered armed and dangerous.

He is described as a Hispanic male, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing approximately 280 pounds. He has a prominent tattoo on his forearm that reads “Zamora” in large letters.
“If spotted, please do not approach or engage with the suspect,” police said. “Call 9-1-1 when it is safe to do so.”
The victim’s identity will not be released until next of kin has been notified.
