“Every day in the Trump administration, I will, quite simply, put America first,” Trump said.
President Trump said America’s “sovereignty will be restored and our security restored. The scales of justice will be rebalanced. The vicious, violent and unjust weaponization by the Department of Justice and our government will end.” And our top priority is a proud, prosperous, and free country.”
President Trump addressed the Biden administration’s claims of persecution and vowed not to use the government to go after political opponents.
“But first, we have to be honest about the challenges we face,” Trump said. “There are a lot of them, but with this huge momentum that the world is witnessing now in America, they will become extinct.”
But in his first address to the nation as the 47th president, the president said, “Our government is facing a crisis of confidence.”
“My recent election is a mission to completely reverse this terrible betrayal and the many betrayals that have occurred and restore our people to their faith, their wealth, their democracy, and their freedom from this moment on. America’s decline is over. “President Trump said.
Trump takes more than 200 executive actions on first day
The president spoke from the Capitol Rotunda on Monday after frigid temperatures forced the inaugural ceremony to be held indoors for the first time in 40 years due to the Arctic blast that hit the nation’s capital.
Trump defeated former Vice President Kamala Harris in a landslide in both the electoral college and the popular vote, vowing that his second administration would usher in a “Golden Age of America.”
Trump was running against then-President Joe Biden, who is seeking re-election until July 2024. But after the two debated for the first time and Biden’s dismal performance, the incumbent faced pressure from Democratic Party insiders to end his bid for president. .
Biden made the announcement in a social media post endorsing Harris to replace him as the Democratic presidential nominee, making him his top choice for vice president.
Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race comes days after the Republican National Convention (RNC) concluded and Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), formally accepted the Republican nomination. It was later given down.
But Trump survived an assassination attempt at a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, just days before accepting the Republican nomination. During the event, President Trump unveiled a graph highlighting how illegal immigration has skyrocketed under the Biden-Harris administration. As he turned to the chart, he was shot through the top of his right ear by the now deceased would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks.
A few weeks later, in September, another would-be assassin hid in the bushes at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The gunman, Ryan Wesley Routh, pointed an AK-47-style rifle at President Trump through a fence as he played golf. President Trump was pushed off a golf course by members of the US Secret Service, but was unharmed.

Trump reflected on his near-death experience and the unprecedented trials and legal battles he endured throughout the 2024 campaign.

He added, “But I believed then, and even more so now, that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.”

President Trump is expected to take more than 200 executive actions on his first day in office. This is the first wave of large-scale policy priorities focused on border security, energy, lowering the cost of living for American families, and ending DEI programs across the federal government.
