The Times is building a community page for friends, family and fellow Angelenos to remember what was lost in the Eaton and Palisades fires.
The fire destroyed the community and killed at least 24 people. People lost their homes. Cultural monuments were destroyed. My livelihood has changed completely. If you are in a safe area and would like to share your memories of what was lost in the fire, please fill out the form below.
The Times will use the stories and photos of those lost to create a visual collection of memories to be published at a later date.
Altadena and Pacific Palisades are home to vibrant, close-knit communities. The outpouring of mutual aid and rebuilding efforts in the first days after the fires proves the spirit of these communities is not going anywhere. We want to amplify the voices and stories that make up these regions and honor these experiences.
We understand that some people may not yet have the words to describe the impact of wildfires, and that processing and healing is constantly evolving and will take time. Here at the Times, we intend to honor the unique emotions and experiences of each person faced with this tragedy and provide this space for reflection, storytelling, and the ongoing journey towards recovery.
Submissions will be accepted for several weeks. I may not be able to respond to or publish every post, but I read them all. Multiple applications are also welcome. This community page is a space you can use whenever you need it.
It will be here.
