LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – Six people, including a suspect, were injured in a shooting in Los Angeles’ Westlake neighborhood, and detectives are asking for the public’s help finding two more persons of interest.
The violence occurred around 1 a.m. on Jan. 22 in the 600 block of South Alvarado Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release.
Detectives said the gunman approached several people and opened fire, striking five of them before being shot himself.
Medical personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported three of the victims to hospitals in stable condition. Three other people, including the gunman, were also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

After collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses and victims, investigators determined that two more gunmen were present during the incident, and the search is underway.

“At this time, it is unknown if they were firing at each other or if the gunfire was directed solely at the victim,” the release states.
Authorities said the identity of the suspect, who is in custody, is not being released pending an investigation.
Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said in a statement that additional patrols will be focused on the Westlake neighborhood where the violence occurred.
“Today, the Mayor and I are rapidly deploying personnel to our region to enforce our zero-tolerance policy against crime. If you break the law, you will be arrested,” the statement said. “Please know that my top priority is your safety, and I will continue to hold accountable those who threaten your safety.”
