According to the fire department, a structural fire erupted at the Pomona Valley Duplex unit killed one dog early in the morning on Saturday.
The crew of Lavernne and the Los Angeles County Fire Station responded to the fire with 2500 blocks of Shikamoa Drive around 4 am.
When the firefighter arrived first, the authorities said they found smoke and flames coming from the double back on the first floor.
Only one person lived in the unit, and the crew noticed that he had evacuated his house, but was injured.
Details were limited, and the authorities did not immediately specify the degree of her injury, but she said she was taken to a local hospital.
“Firefighters have started aggressive internal fire attacks and major search,” said Ravelne officials. “While searching, they found two dogs in the unit, and unfortunately one of the dogs did not survive despite the resuscitation efforts.
The preliminary information did not include any further information about the second dog condition.
The crew was able to defeat the fire within 18 minutes, and the authorities said it was only in one double unit.
All residents of the adjacent units were able to evacuate safely and have not been reported that they were affected by the fire.
However, a single unit suffered serious damage and is currently unable to live. City authorities have stated that the crew provided a red cross service to the residents.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
