A Southern California man was arrested and charged with raping an elderly bedridden woman while he was employed as her caretaker.
The suspect, Phuong Hoang Khong, 69, of Anaheim, is accused of sexually assaulting a 93-year-old woman who is nonverbal and suffering from dementia, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Khong served as the caretaker for women three times a week, the DA’s office said.
On January 6th, he arrived at his scheduled shift and was allegedly covered the woman’s eyes with a medical face mask before removing the woman’s diaper. He then tightened up medical restraints around the woman’s wrist before sexually attacking her in her bed, court documents say.
Khong eventually surrendered to the Orange Police Station earlier this week after the victim’s family discovered the crime and threatened to call the police.
On Friday, he charged with one felony of forced rape, one felony of foreign sexual penetration by force, one felony of forced oral mating, and one felony of felony elder abuse. It was done.
No further details regarding the case have been released, but prosecutors said Khong “has had a previous relationship with a woman.”
“He targeted the most vulnerable victims, knowing she was extremely helpless. “This is another tragic example of sexual predators not aging sadistic deviants. There, we must not stop fighting to protect our vulnerability from predators who want to prey on them for diseased, twisted sexual satisfaction.”
If convicted in all respects, Khong faces life in a prison of four years plus a maximum sentence of 75 years.
