A U.S. Post Office supervisor from Compton could enter 20 years of prison after admitting to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of checks and other valuable items from the mail on Friday.
Joivian Tjuana Hayes, 36, pleaded guilty to one count of theft by a postal employee and one count of unlawful use of means of identification, the U.S. Department of Justice in a news release I stated.
Hayes, a supervisor at the Costa Mesa Post Office, stole a check and valuables last year. She took away at least 20 checks up to around $284,000, as well as items worth $40,000, such as gold and collector currency, including Confederate $10 bills.
Hayes was able to use the bank’s app on a mobile phone or ATM to fake the recipient and deposit the money to deposit the check.
While searching for her home, it was discovered that Hayes owns the next stolen item.

Hayes is scheduled to be sentenced May 23, and she faces up to five years in federal prison for theft and 15 years for illegal transfer.
