A group of students gathered at Buena Park on Friday to protest social media posts posted on the teacher’s aide’s Instagram profile.
About 100 students protested during a few hours of demonstrations in front of the main office of Buena Park High School. Everything has flags, I will burn them for you. ”
The post was widely shared among students and parents at Orange County High Schools.
“I was really shocked and I was really disappointed that they had such a person on campus,” said parent April Gois. “I don’t think any of the kids were safe. They didn’t want to come to school.”
The school principal sent an email to his parents and apologised for the post. The teacher’s aide was placed on administrative leave, school officials said Friday.
“Everyone has their own opinion and they are allowed to vote, but what she did was not accepted,” said parent Maria Torres.
The NBCLA contacted teachers’ aides for comment via phone, text and social media and visited her residence, but received no response.
The student said he was planning another protest next week.
