At least one person was killed after two people were attacked by two vehicles on a 101 highway outside Universal Studios Hollywood, authorities said.
The crash was reported at about 2:36am just south of Rankershim Boulevard exit on the northbound span of the highway. Two pedestrians were in the lane when the driver behind the wheels of a black Jeep Wrangler hit them, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities declared one of the pedestrians who died at the scene. The other was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for a major injury. The CHP did not say whether injuries were life-threatening.
The identities of both people were not immediately available.
The Jeep driver remained on the scene to assist paramedics, authorities said.
As of Saturday morning, it was not clear where the two pedestrians were outside the highway vehicle, or why. The CHP did not say whether speed, drugs or alcohol were a factor, or whether an arrest was made.
The incident is currently under investigation.
