What began as an investigation into check fraud, Fontana officials arrested three suspects on Thursday and were arrested for numerous crimes, including theft of stolen vehicles, hard drugs and mail.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said two of the three suspects had already been jailed for separate crimes.
Lawmakers began an investigation on January 14 after reporting that the victim wrote a check and placed it in the Rosena Ranch Community Mailbox, and a few days later the check was changed and cashed out at a different amount and beneficiary. I understand that.
The sheriff’s office said the first two suspects identified in the theft were David Herrera, 32, of Rialto and Charles Alexander Ramsey, 29, of San Bernardino.
Herrera and Ramsey are currently jailing at West Valley Detention Center on separate, unrelated charges, according to authorities.
Detectives recovered hundreds of mail and personal identification information while providing a search warrant on February 6 in the 19,000 block of W. Cajon Boulevard.
Also, during the search, the suspect, 37-year-old Daniel Joseph Westbrook, 37, of San Bernardino, tried to escape but to no avail.
“Investigators learned about the vehicle, along with the vehicle that arrived at the location of the incident in which Westbrook was stolen from Las Vegas, Nevada, and a trailer parked behind it,” SBSO said. “The Blue Tahoe coincided with descriptions of vehicles seen in the neighborhood where they suspected of stealing mail and other personal property.”

In addition to the stolen vehicle, detectives discover that Westbrook has methamphetamine.
“Fontana Sheriff’s detectives believe Herrera and Westbrook are responsible for other crimes at Rosana Ranch and surrounding areas,” the Sheriff’s Office added.
SBSO has provided the above photo of the suspect and the stolen Tahoe and has information to contact Fontana Sheriff Station on 909-356-6767 saying there may be additional victims I asked someone.
