The FBI has revealed thousands of records related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy as a result of President Donald Trump’s executive order to release the files.
Axios first reported that the FBI released the assassination of Kennedy, a record of 2,400 linked on November 22, 1963.
When the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) submitted plans to release the JFK file, it reportedly revealed the existence of the record.
Fox News confirmed with anyone familiar with the record that the file was discovered during review.

“In 2020, the FBI opened a central recording facility, first shipped, and then launched a multi-year effort to electronically stock and store closed case files from FBI field offices nationwide. “The FBI told FOX News. “The resulting, more comprehensive inventory of records, coupled with technological advances in automating the FBI record-keeping process, allows you to search and find records more quickly.
“The FBI conducted a new record search based on declassification of JFK, RFK and MLK assassination files in accordance with President Trump’s executive order issued on January 23, 2025. Related to JFK assassination case files That’s not recognized,” the agency added. “The FBI is working to create appropriate notifications for newly discovered documents and move them to the National Archives and the Bureau of Records for inclusion in the ongoing confidentiality process.”
Last month, Trump signed an executive order to declassify files relating to Kennedy’s assassination, his brother Robert F. Kennedy and civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.

The executive order comes after Trump previously promised to declassify documents when he entered his second term on the campaign trail. It’s 60 years that Americans know the truth. ”
Trump initially had promised to release the final batch of documents during his first term, but such efforts eventually dissipated. Trump then blocked the release of hundreds of records on assassinations, following several CIA and FBI appeals.

“I have no choice,” Trump said in the memo, where he cited “potentially irreversible harm” if he allowed the record to be released. At the time, Trump said that potential harm to US national security, law enforcement or diplomacy was “gravity enough to outweigh the public interest of immediate disclosure.”
