Scottsdale, Ariz. (AP) — At least one person was killed and others were injured when a private jet crashed Monday afternoon at Ariz. Scottsdale Airport, authorities said.
The medium-sized business jet hit another medium-sized business jet parked on private property, according to Kelly Quester, aviation planning and outreach coordinator at Scottsdale Airport.
According to Kuester, one jet fell off the runway and collided with a parked Gulfstream 200 jet. The main landing gear on the arriving jet failed, appearing to have led to a collision, she said.
Quester said four were on an arrival jet that was coming from Austin, Texas, and one was on a parked plane.

Two people injured in the collision were taken to the trauma center, with one in stable condition at the hospital, said Colonel Dave Folio of the Scottsdale Fire Department. He said they are working to recover the bodies of those killed in the collision.
“Our thoughts and prayers are directed at everyone involved in this,” Folio said.
The runway is closed and will remain closed “in the near future,” Quester said.
The airport is a popular hub for jets entering and leaving the Phoenix area. Especially on big sports weekends like the open golf tournament in Phoenix, which attracts crowds a few miles away.
The Scottsdale collision comes after three major US air disasters over the past two weeks. On January 29, a commercial jet liner and an army helicopter collided near the country’s capital, killing 67 people. On January 31st, a medical transport crashed in Philadelphia, killing six people on board and another person on the ground. And last week, a small commuter plane crashed on its way to the Gnomes hub community in western Alaska, killing all 10 people on board.
