Rewards are being offered Tuesday as authorities continue to search for someone who fatally shot 22-year-old Legonette Morgan near the 105 highway in Los Angeles’ West Athens last year.
The $10,000 reward will be officially announced at a morning press conference attended by Morgan’s mother and Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna.

Morgan was shot dead on Vermont Avenue when he approached the white Mercedes-Benz 105 highway on July 2, 2024 at around 7:45pm.
Investigators believe Morgan is an innocent victim of gang violence and was mistaken for someone else when the suspect’s vehicle ran into her driver’s seat and fired.
Morgan was hit several times and crashed near the on-ramp on the 105 highway. The suspect continued to travel south on Vermont Avenue.
She rushed to the port of UCLA Medical Center and died two days later.
The controversy surfaced shortly after the shooting when video on social media went viral and described police response as an “absolute failure.”
The Sheriff’s Department said it will conduct a “critical case review” of deputies’ response, equipment, training and tactics to determine whether they have followed departmental policies and procedures.
It was unclear whether the findings of the investigation would be mentioned at a press conference Tuesday.
The Board of Supervisors provides compensation for information that leads to the identification and arrest of suspects or suspects involved in Morgan’s murder.
The press conference will be streamed live on the Sheriff’s Division Facebook page at 10am
