A few days before Christmas, the family discovered the bodies of Alicia Montejano and her 19-year-old son, Reuel Huerta, in an apartment in Stockton. The two were beaten, and authorities announced that Montegiano’s boyfriend, 38-year-old Giulio Caesar Valdes, was their suspect.
After weeks of manhunt, Valdez was arrested Tuesday in Rosalito, Mexico, and handed over to San Joaquin County in connection with the murder, Stockton police said on release.
Fuerta and his mother, Montegiano, 43, were found in an apartment on December 23rd. Montejano’s daughter, Marissaville, made a horrifying discovery, reported Sacramento News Station KXTV.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Vigil told the news station. “I felt dying at the time. I couldn’t breathe and still couldn’t take a photo from my head.”
“Neither deserved this,” said Raul Huerta, Reuel’s father. “We need justice. He had the greatest heart. He wouldn’t hurt anyone.”
The family described Fuerta as a cheerful and quiet teenager, and described Montejano as someone who can make others smile.
Authorities said Fuerta had a laceration in his body, which was believed to be the cause of his death, but there were no signs of gunshot wounds or other obvious injuries seen on his mother’s body. No other details have been released.
